What is the process of thinking critically? For some, it is the process of stepping outside of one's own paradigm to assess a situation with no bias.
Humans are often prone to act without thinking. History's biggest mistakes are sometimes the cause of acting on impulse rather than careful planning and thinking. "The human mind, without discipline and rigor, is prone to shoddy thinking. Oddly enough, very often it would rather not have to 'think'." (Elder 1) In this quote Linda Elder explains the "laziness" of the human mind. To correct this, one must train one's mind to step outside a situation and analyze the situation without bias.
Thinking critically is, simply put, thinking outside of the box.
